I’ve become That Cousin

so over Christmas, during conversations with my cousin I progressively realized with a small but growing degree of distress that I’ve become (or have at least come to appear now to my cousin) a raging leftist feminazi, probably due in some part to Tumblr

it’s distressing mostly because she’s my favorite cousin and I’m constantly a hair’s breadth away from yelling “SEXIST BULLSHIT!!!” and “HEGEMONY OF THE MALE GAZE!!!” and “RAAARRRLLLL!!!” and it’s just very stressful and I don’t want to be angry and unpleasant with my favorite cousin every time we talk about guys and dating and this hadn’t been a problem before this year, talking about guys used to be fun what happened!!

but gosh every time she validated or quantified something according to a guy’s opinion I just wanted to quit the conversation. When we talked about self-improvement: “I’ve learned to make myself more attractive guys”; fitness and how extreme weight loss is not the way to go: “yeah guys don’t actually like very skinny girls”; hair styles and lengths: “(ex’s name) really didn’t like it when I got my hair trimmed even just a little” (my cousin has long, luscious black hair which I’m not saying she should part with but I am supremely biased towards short styles)

I’m not sure if at one point I really did yell something to the effect of “WELL HE CAN JUST GO FUCK HIMSELF AND CHOKE ON A PINE CONE, ALSO YOU SHOULDN’T GIVE TWO SHITS ABOUT WHAT MEN THINK”, and if I didn’t it was a very near thing

then we didn’t talk about guys again for the rest of my stay at my cousin’s and everything was very fun and pleasant
